Method Reference:

Ion Exchange Chromatography of amino acid profile based on AOAC Official Method 994.12. Internally developed method for sample hydrolysis and extraction.


Method Description:

The peptide linkages in the food sample's proteins are broken by acid hydrolysis. After the acid is removed, the sample is diluted with a buffer solution and filtered. The sample is then injected on an HPLC. Responses are compared to a known calibration standard.


Information Required by Submitter:

An estimate of the total nitrogen or total protein in the sample must be submitted. Medallion Laboratories cannot offer the appropriate test if this information is not available. Alternatively include a request for protein analysis from Medallion Laboratories when submitting your sample.


Additional Information:

This test measures fifteen amino acids, including 8 of the 9 essential amino acids. The  amino acids analyzed include: Alanine, Arginine, Aspartic Acid, Glutamic Acid, Glycine, Histidine, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Phenylalanine, Proline, Serine, Threonine, Tyrosine, and Valine.

Note: Cysteine, Methionine and Tryptophan are not detected in our analysis.
