Method Description:

Lycopene is extracted from a homogenized sample after enzyme digestion designed for foods, by blending with solvent at high speed. Extracts are filtered and lycopene is quantitated using reverse phase HPLC with UV/Vis detection.



Additional Information:

Lycopene is one of the plant pigments known as carotenoids and is a relative of ß-Carotene. This method is for the quantification of lycopene only.
