Method Description:

A slurried sample is taken through a programmed Heat - Hold - Cool cycle while the viscosity is continuously measured. Differences from the Visco-Amylograph include much smaller sample sizes and the ability to program heating and cooling rates that can change much more quickly than the Amylograph.


Information Required by Submitter:

Because each segment of the grain industry uses different sample sizes and temperature profiles, the customer must supply a method reference with the samples (AACC methods preferred).

This test is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited through A2LA, Certificate # 2769.01.

The RVA is an empirical viscometer used to measure the pasting properties of grains, starches and flours. Because each segment of the grain industry uses different sample sizes and temperature profiles, the customer must supply a method reference with the samples. The submitter is encouraged to speak to the test specialist to help design an appropriate test protocol if there is no specific method.
