Method Description:

Samples are extracted, components are converted to oximes,then later derivatized, and analyzed using gas chromatography. Calculations are based on response factors of known standards.



Additional Information:

This method determines the amounts of common sugar alcohols (sorbitol, maltitol, erythritol, xylitol, mannitol, Isomalt, and lactitol) and simple sugars (fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, lactose, and trehalose) in foods. We recommend this method be performed for all samples that contain or may contain sugar alcohols.
