Method Description:

The sample is extracted into solvent and the extract is added to a solution of enzyme-conjugated toxin. The mixture is then transferred to an antibody-coated plastic well where the free toxin and the enzyme-conjugated toxin compete for antibody sites. After rinsing, a color developing agent and a stop solution are added. The color of the well is evaluated for the presence/quantity of aflatoxin in the sample.

This test determines the presence of aflatoxins B1, B2, G1 and G2, from the Aspergillus mold, using a direct competitive ELISA (Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assays) method in a microwell format. However, the test only provides a Total Aflatoxin result. It does not provide results that are specific to the individual mycotoxin species.
